Tips For Caring For Dogs In Rainy Weather

Thankfully here in San Diego, our pets are spoiled with some of the most beautiful weather in the whole country.  However, if this week is any indication, it occasionally rains in paradise.  Here are some tips to keep you and your pups comfortable in a downpour.

Doggy Raincoats

If your dogs have become accustomed to San Diego sunshine like mine, it can be a challenge to even take them out for a potty break in the rain.  I have found that my pup is much less reluctant to do her business when she is wearing a cute doggy raincoat.   A raincoat will keep your little furball nice and dry, making them much easier to clean off when the come back in the house.

Keep a Towel Handy

Muddy Dog San Diego

Keep a towel by your door so you can wipe your dog’s paws off after going outside.  Wiping off your dog’s paws will help them stay warm and prevent mud from being tracked through your house.  This has become such a routine at my house that my pup’s wait by the door after I let them in when it is raining.  With practice, your pups will patiently wait for their muddy paws to be wiped as well.
